Before you get on the bed
1. If you are taking any medication you should check with your doctor that it is still OK to tan as some medications react to UV light.
2. Make sure that your skin is clean, as clean skin tans better. Also, make sure that you leave an hour between showering and using the sunbed.
3. Make sure that you remove all cosmetics and perfumes before going on the bed.
4. Apply your tanning enhancers immediately before getting on the bed. These can be purchased from your delivery driver
5. When you are tanning make sure you protect the “sensitive” areas that are not normally exposed to UV light.
Whilst on the bed
1. Make sure you have eye-protection. Eyelids block less than 25% of harmful UV rays, so closing your eyes is not protecting you from the UVA and UVB rays from a tanning bed.
2. Remember – keep your sensitive areas covered.
3.
Relax. One of the side benefits of using a sunbed is the relaxation that is brings, as well as combating SAD.(Seasonal Affective Disorder)
4.
Monitor your body carefully. If you experienece any burning, itching or uncomfortable sensations, Switch off the sunbed and check them out.
5. Don’t try to rush your tan. Your skin can only produce a certain amount of melanin each day. Build your exposure time gradually
6.
Protect your lips with a lip balm that blocks UV light; lips cannot produce melanin, leaving them at risk for overexposure.
After your sunbed session
1. Avoid the shower for around 2 hours as the lotions will carry on working to develop your tan and moisten your skin.
2.
Moisturise at least once a day, especially after your shower. Moisturising twice a day is good if you can do it.
3.
Seek the advice of a medical professional if you have a health concern-such as rashes, itching, or any other skin problems or irregularities.
